Set Free

The definition of freedom is the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint. –The state of not being imprisoned or enslaved; the power of self-determination attributed to the will; the quality of being independent of fate or necessity.
Because Christ wanted you to have the power and the right to act, speak and think without being hindered or restrained by anything, He has set you free. He loved you enough to defeat the sinful things that you willingly obeyed for years; He cut through the chains that had you bound hand to foot and set you free to run for Him. This is huge! He wanted you and me to enjoy being free.
It’s almost like we’re someone who’s been trapped under a car after a horrible accident and someone with incredible strength came and lifted the car off so that we wouldn’t be crushed. Wouldn’t you thank them profusely? Wouldn’t you ask if there was anything that you could do to repay them? Or would you go back to the car and climb back under it? Of course not, because it’s dangerous and makes no sense. But that is exactly what we do when we choose to run back to the very things that Jesus has set us free from – porn, alcohol, ungodly relationships, drugs, whatever it is. All we have to do to exercise our freedom is to keep moving forward. Keep choosing to pursue Christ and get to know Him through real relationship and not rituals or traditions.
So now that you know that you are surely set free (John 8:36 says If the Son sets you free, you are free INDEED), what are you going to do with it? How will you live for your Hero?
